
Who is Raquel Nicole Jete’. Well let me answer that question for you. She is a talented singer who is feeding your soul through a combination of jazz, funk, and neo soul gospel music. Jete’ is described as the India Arie of Christian Music. Right now we are living in chaotic and challenging times. I am a firm believer that the music should reflect the times. Listening to Jete’ music is so soothing on your spirit. The sound, her lyrics, and message will leave your spirit filled with joy. I had the pleasure of interviewing Jete’ and it truly was one of my favorite interviews. She has such a warm energy and aura about herself which is reflected in her music.

TCK: What was the first song you ever wrote?
RNJ: The first song I wrote was Procrastination. I was 19-years-old.
TCK: How long have you been in the music business?
RNJ: I have been in the music business off and on for around 10 years.
TCK: What have you learned about the business?
RNJ: I had a revelation about myself from my experience in the music business. The music business is a business. There were times where people did me wrong, but the most important revelation I had was God was not at the center of my work. I knew that I had to change. God has been opening doors for me since I made that decision.
TCK: What artist would like to collaborate with musically.
RNJ: Tye Tribbett and Jonathan McReynolds are two artist that I would love to collaborate and make music.
TCK: Who inspires you musically?
RNJ: My musical inspirations are Stevie Wonder, India Arie, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
TCK: When did you know you wanted to be a singer?
RNJ: The first time I led the church choir. I grew up as a dancer. My family was supportive of my music and dancing.
TCK: Last question, what message do you want people to take away from your music?
RNJ: I want people to be encouraged, uplifted, and inspired toward Christ leading them to God.
