Summer is here and for many black women wearing protective styles such as braids, cornrows, locs, twist, and weaves are more popular than ever. Protective hairstyles helps to preserve the health of your hair.

Summer is the time for a little R&R. Protective styles are great for hot and humid temperatures. Plus while vacationing you may want to go swim or do water related activities and you do not want to put extra heat on your hair every time you go out to the pool so it’s easier to maintain your hair in protective styles.

This year I will be vacationing in Hawaii and I chose to get a full sew-in weave because I knew I would be going to the beach and doing water related activities and hiking.
